Finally! Here it is - a tutorial for the triangle box that I created for my Easter treats. For the tutorial, I will be using a piece of cardstock instead of the transparency. I used transparency for my Easter treats so that you could see the treats inside and transparency tends to be more durable. This box looks just as tempting with cardstock so try it both ways.
- Cardstock or transparency cut to 5-1/4" by 8"
- Sticky Strip
- Ribbon to tie the ends
- Ribbon or cardstock to decorate the final project
- Scoring blade for your cutter
- Paper snips for cutting cardstock or rubber scissors for cutting transparency
Step 1. Score cardstock parallel to the 8" side at 3/4", 2-1/4" and 3-3/4". Then score the cardstock parallel to one of the shorter ends at 1", 1-5/8" and 2-1/4". Rotate the cardstock 180 deg and repeat the scoring on the other short end (1", 1-5/8" and 2-1/4").
Step 2. Fold the cardstock along the 3/4" score line. Using the three score lines on each end as a guide, cut a triangle shape out of both ends. The triangle should start on the outer scores and come to a point at the center score. MAKE SURE that the point of the triangle is below the edge of the cardstock. I left approximately 3/8" between the tip of the triangle and the edge of the cardstock.
Step 3. Fold the cardstock along the next long score line (2-1/4") and again cut out a triangle as you did in the step above. I left approximately 5/8" between the tips of the triangles. Repeat the step again along the last long score (3-3/4").
.
Step 4. You will also need to cut out one last set of triangles along the edge of the cardstock opposite the (3/4") fold. These should also be approximately 5/8" between the tips of these triangles. When you lay the cardstock flat it should look like this....
.
Step 5. You will now need to put Sticky Strip along the edge of your cardstock avoiding the cut out areas as shown. Make sure that the adhesive is placed on the side of the cardstock that will be the inside of the box.
.
Step 6. Now adhere the edge of your cardstock to the edge of the 3/4" fold to create your triangular shaped box.
.

.
Step 7. Using ribbon, tie one end of the box together and fill with candy. Once filled, you can close the other end with your ribbon and decorate as your heart desires!
I hope it was worth the wait. I would love for you to leave comments with a link to your creations.
